Job Description

The Back-end Web Developer is a mid- to senior-level position that is responsible for the development and design of major and minor web applications. This position will design, develop, test and deliver websites, applications and components to evaluate and recommend possible courses of action. Best practices and design methods will be utilized to ensure the success of the projects. The Back-end Web Developer will have the ability to maintain project ownership while creating web applications and components from the requirements stage through design to production deployment. What you’ll be doing:

  • Development of business logic and content/data integration code that is secure, scalable and maintainable.
  • Participate in daily standups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives
  • Follow and contribute to software development best practices. Participate in code reviews.
  • Work with business, functional analysts and QA teams to identify defects, troubleshoot and track them to resolution
  • Work closely and directly with the various stakeholders as needed to define, prioritize and execute solutions that address the needs of a product.
  • Participate in application design meetings and evaluate design decisions to determine feasibility and system impact. Recommend appropriate changes to design/processes and products.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer and cross-training
  • Take the initiative to research and learn emerging technologies. Seek and promote opportunities for innovation.
  • Will manage automated code deployments and database migrations across environments as needed.
  • Monitor and test server and application performance and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Have a strong handle on SQL Server performance and write custom SQL queries for various tasks. What we’re looking for:
  • 5+ years of software development with background of building large scale systems using Node.js/Python/Ruby/Go, NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB, Redis) and Linux
  • Experience in working with cloud systems and applications a plus
  • Be able to maintain multi-tiered IIS environments (Development, QA, UAT & Production).
  • Experience with agile development teams working directly with the product owners and other stakeholders.
  • Team player with excellent collaboration skills. Experience working with UI developers and various IT service teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence peers
  • Excellent written verbal communication skills, both business and technical
  • Resourceful, creative and proactive problem solver
  • Experience with analytics solutions a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any business/technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience building and maintaining various sized sites (upwards of 50+ pages)
  • Team player with a positive attitude and stellar interpersonal skills
  • Experience in direct marketing or UX is a plus
  • Ability to communicate issues to team members and assist in error correction.
  • Ability to understand advanced relational database concepts.
  • Quickly adapt current knowledge to other programming environments.
