Position Summary: Illumina is seeking a Staff User Experience Developer to join our team of design experts who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of development. Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX designs and wireframes to exceptional code that will produce visual elements of the application. You will work with UI/UX designers, other developers, and cross-functional personnel to bridge the gap between visual design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides, and define how the application looks as well as how it works.Must be self-motivated to prioritize and manage workload, a strong communicator with an eye for detail, and meet critical project milestones and deadlines. This individual will also need to be highly familiar with cross-browser compatibility issues and demonstrate design and user interface/user experience skills. A suitable candidate will be user focused, be a team-builder and team player, and have an ability to work in a fast paced and highly collaborative position. Candidate must be highly organized and have the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. All About You Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating closely with interaction and visual design to deliver pixel-perfect code, in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaboration with cross-functional development teams and product managers across product lines to ensure adoption and consistent application of design system framework
  • Translating design specs into reusable components using HTML5/CSS3, SCSS, Angular 8+, and Bootstrap
  • Delivering quality front-end dev solutions that work across all major browsers, including Edge, Chrome, Safari, Firefox and are responsive
  • Refactor/optimize existing code to deliver the best user experience
  • Participate in daily standups and brainstorming sessions to figure out the best technical solutions to achieve the goals set by the management All listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities. Requirements:
  • 6+ years experience in front-end development, and highly proficient with HTML5, CSS3, and web standards for building semantic and responsive UI’s
  • Proficient in Javascript, JSON, Angular 8+, and ES6+ and xperience working with git, Github & bash/powershell for development
  • Familiar with component-based development and thinking
  • Experience in developing and applying design patterns, familiarity of user centered design process, methodology, and GUI best practices.
  • Familiarity with Jira, agile, and scrum-based development
  • Ability to code interfaces across a range of devices (e.g. desktop computers, mobile devices, consumer or scientific devices)
  • Ability to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical team members
  • Understanding of BEM CSS preferred
  • Ability to meet deadlines, be organized, be proactive, and embrace change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Associates/Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related web development areas preferred Nice to have:
  • Experience working with Typescript
  • Experience using design systems
  • Experience with NPM, gulp, Jenkins, or TeamCity
  • Experience with test automation and test-driven development I.E. Jasmin, Cypress, etc.
  • Ability to prototype is a plus
